ABOUT THE POSITION

Astec is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Security Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in network design implementation, configuration, monitoring, and security. They must possess a strong understanding of network protocols, VLANs, network segmentation, routing protocols, and 802.1x authentication, along with hands-on experience configuring firewalls and managing secure network infrastructures .

 

Key Responsibilities

· Design, implement, and configure secure network architectures to meet organizational needs.

· Monitor network performance and security, ensuring optimal operation and rapid response to threats or anomalies.

· Configure and manage firewalls to safeguard network assets.

· Implement and manage network segmentation to enhance security and performance.

· Configure VLANs to optimize network traffic and enhance security.

· Deploy and maintain 802.1x authentication protocols to control access to the network.

· Analyze and troubleshoot routing protocols to ensure efficient connectivity and data flow.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and enforce security policies and procedures.

· Conduct regular network assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective measures.

· Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in network security.

 

To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

· Proven experience in network design implementation, configuration, and security.

· Strong expertise in switching and routing technologies.

· In-depth knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, and DHCP.

· Hands-on experience in configuring firewalls from major vendors.

· Proficiency in VLANs, network segmentation, and routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.

· Familiarity with 802.1x authentication and access control mechanisms.

· Experience managing and securing OT networks.

· Experience with SD-WAN and IPsec/SSL tunnels.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

· Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders.

· Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CISSP are highly desirable.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This role may include occasional travel, domestic and international.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Office

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment. Duties will include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting, or standing.
