Reports to:  Design Manager

Missy Apparel Company looking for a  PAID  design intern to join our growing team, with an immediate start. Experience in fashion is a plus but NOT required. This position is meant for someone with an excitement about fashion and is looking to learn about the industry. Based on performance, could lead to full-time design assistant position. Established in 1987, we have worked to provide women of many ages in a range of sizes with a fashion forward wardrobe at a reasonable price, with the best quality. Our attention to detail and value is our main goal.

Please note this is a fully onsite role in our NYC office Monday through Friday.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Filing production fabric swatches
  • Maintaining order and cleanliness of fabric closet (top priority)
  • Searching for trim, linings and fabrications in the garment district
  • Buying samples from various stores in the city
  • Organizing sample racks
  • Bringing samples back and forth to the showroom for market appointments
  • Organizing various things around the office and returning packages
  • Occasional errands consisting of picking up food, coffee, supplies, etc.

Requirements

  • Degree in fashion or (currently pursuing one) required
  • Background in design required
  • Must be organized and have a strong attention to detail
  • Able to multi-task and be a self-starter
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

Please note this is a fully onsite role (Monday through Friday weekly during normal business hours of 8:30-5:30pm) in our NYC office offering $17/hour. You must be able to commit to all 5 days in the office.
