The DPR legal office has an opening for an Assistant Chief Counsel (ACC). Under the direction of the Chief Counsel, the ACC leads a team of attorneys in advancing DPR's mission to protect human health and the environment.

Duties include providing expert legal advice to the Chief Counsel and Directorate on complex and sensitive questions arising from environmental and public law requirements applicable to DPR pesticide program implementation and DPR's administrative services divisions, and supervising a team of subordinate attorneys.

Working Conditions

  • Administrative office building.
  • Ability to use a computer up to 8 hours a day.
  • Occasional statewide travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • May be required to work irregular hours.

NOTE: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.

  • The position(s) require(s) a(n) State Bar of California's Provisional Licensure License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
